Puig Major from Sóller

Puig Major from Sóller

Length: 14.6km
Av. gradient: 6.5 %
Climbing: 834m

The highest and longest climb in the Tramuntana and therefore in Mallorca. It never gets too steep and the road surface is good. From Soller is the harder route to take to the summit at the tunnel of Monnaber. The easier side is from Sa Calobra.

The Climb

Almost 15km, at an average gradient of 6%, this climb falls within the HC category. The views as you will imagine are excellent. There is actually a road going even higher almost to the top of Puig Major at 1445m, but because this leads to a radar and a military base, this road is only accessible only after obtaining a special permit, so most cyclists do not bother.

What to look out for

The scenery, including ospreys and falcons above you, and tour buses during the height of the holiday season.
